ABOUT US
CORE BELIEFS
We believe in the irrefutable truth that Jesus Christ is the only son of God sent to redeem a sinful and hurting world. John 3:16 We believe that we are adequately equipped to embrace the endless possibilities before us to achieve God's will for us as individuals and as a community of faith. Philippians 4:13 We believe that all people are created by God and as such are worthy of love, respect, care, and sanctuary within our walls. Romans 10:12 We believe that as a redeemed and saved people that our redemption and salvation is expressed through works that will bring glory to the Most Holy Name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Romans 8:28 We believe that God has called this congregation to fulfill his special purpose in this time and place. Luke 8:16 |
Visitors Welcome
A Place for You We, the people of Central United Methodist Church, believe that God's love is grace-filled and unconditional and that, through Christ, God calls us to love one another as God loves us. We welcome all people, regardless of gender, race, age, cultural or religious heritage, ethnic background, economic circumstances, family configuration or difference of ability. You don't have to pretend your life is perfectly in order. You don't have to dress up. You'll find a warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere where you can be yourself. You'll discover a place where you are loved no matter who you are, where you've been, or what you've done. Connections and Support Because building relationships is important, we offer a variety of groups: Golden Worshipers in Action Senior Ministry, United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, Youth and Children Ministries, Scouting Ministries, as well as a basketball league for adult males and youth. Central has Bible studies, committee and ministry meetings, and choir rehearsals during the week. Our goal is to lead lives in a manner pleasing to God on a daily basis. |
Joining Central United Methodist Church
Meaning of Membership Church membership is a covenant relationship among God, the church member, and the entire congregation as together we profess the Christian faith and seek to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. Church members are expected to grow in their faith, to care for one another, and to be part of the ministry of the church. Membership Eligibility "All persons without regard to race, color, national origin, status, or economic condition" are eligible to become members of Central United Methodist Church (Constitution of The United Methodist Church). We strive to be an open congregation and welcome all who wish to profess the Christian faith and unite with us in membership. Types of Membership There are four categories of membership in our church:
Membership Requirements To become a professing member, one must be baptized, make a profession of faith, and commit to faithfully participate in the life and ministry of the church. We accept these acts of faith from any Christian church. In fact, we will not baptize an individual who has previously been baptized in another church. If baptism and profession of faith have not taken place elsewhere, we are always thrilled for them to be part of our worship service. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New members and visitors will participate in a short course on the meaning and practice of church membership. Over three sessions, leaders of the church explain in detail God’s grace, our response in faith, the function of the national and local UMC, how to join the church and membership benefits. For more details, email the church office at [email protected] or call Rev. Sapada Thomas at 601-355-7858/7854. |
